Purple bloom in a planter, University of Sheffield, 8.53am, Christmas Eve. The colour caught my eye as I was walking through the empty campus en route to the swimming pool.

What if we turned off all the lights for just one night every year. Christmas Eve perhaps? We could all look up and reflect.

Stumbled across this on a chilly walk

Christmas Eve and a dog walk in the beach.

Faversham Creek, a couple of hours past low tide, winding through the north Kent marshes. Still plenty of berries on the hawthorn by the path!

I’m running everyday throughout December to help me get through this madness, today I took a moment to enjoy the sunshine, the sheep had the same idea!

I was hoping to see the planetary conjunction but was rewarded instead by a glorious sunset over frozen flooded fields. Brrr! Home to the stove now!
