Welcome to the Solitary Christmas Photo project! If you’re spending Christmas alone in the UK this year, we’d like to invite you to be part of something.

Please send us your photos, taken on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or Boxing Day. Contact with nature has been shown to reduce loneliness, as well as boosting general wellbeing, so you could head out for a winter walk (or three), do a bit of gardening, or simply look out through your windows.

But if you can’t get outdoors, show us what your indoors looks like – your tree, your dinner, yourselves. The main thing is to take time and care over your captures and make them as creative as you know how. It’s the process, more than the end result, that helps and heals.

Your images will be collected together and displayed on this site to form a picture of the UK over the festive period, seen through the eyes of those of us who are solitary this holiday season – whether by choice or necessity.

Thank you so much for joining in!
