I spent many days during our annual summer holiday with my parents and siblings on Bantham beach. Burgh Island and its art deco hotel (Poirot) is just offshore.

Moorhens on the frozen pond

I was surprised to find the park pond iced over but entertained by the silly, dainty feet of the moorhens as they stepped about.
